My experience at Dollard Synchro has been life changing.
Last year, I was an 18 year old in a new province, and I had no idea how to live on my own. The only thing that was still constant in my life was synchro.
Being at this club gave me an opportunity to grow as an athlete. I learned how to work with other athletes, much younger than myself; I learned how to overcome injury; I even learned how to overcome failure. Last year was probably one of the hardest years of my life, but being able to come to the pool, and work with everyone at this club made it so much easier. I really felt like I was welcomed into the ‘DDO family,’ the coaches genuinely cared about my well being; all of my teammates respected me and treated me as an equal, and DDO felt like a second home. I found the coaching at the club to be phenomenal, both Gen and Laura pay so much attention to the minor details that they helped me to improve much faster than I thought possible. They both believed in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself. And I cannot even begin to express how honored I am to have had the opportunity to work with them. Dollard Synchro holds a large part of my heart, and it has been such a pleasure to represent them. I wouldn’t be the athlete I am today if it wasn’t for all the hard work of the swimmers, coaches and parents of the club.
Thank you all so much for the experience, and welcoming me to the family.
